Chester Bennington, Lead Singer of Linkin Park, Commits Suicide by Hanging

Former Linkin Park singer has committed suicide by hanging, as TMZ reported earlier this morning.

His body was discovered in the morning around 9 A.M. at a private residence in Palos Verdes in L.A. County.

The singer, whose real name is Chester Bennington (41), died leaving behind his wife and 6 children.

Throughout life the singer struggled with drugs and alcohol, and it was reported that he had considered suicide before. Chester has made mentions of being abused in his youth by an older male.

The singer had a close friend in Chris Cornell, who himself committed suicide by hanging. Today would have been Chris Cornell’s 53rd birthday and Chester wrote an open letter to his friend the day of Chris’s suicide.

The band had a massive amount of hits and one of the best selling albums of all time in alternative music in “Meteroa.” They were also one of the first alternative bands to cross music genres.
